What the world needs now, is...Freedom from Emotional Bondage?

There is a classic song most everyone knows, that begins this way... "What the world needs now, is love, sweet love..." Oh, how true this is - more true than I think any of us fully realize. I am learning though, that this love we all need, comes about in different ways than most of us human beings are walking around thinking & believing (& thus behaving) it does.

I had the blessing of doing an interview with Nicholeen Peck & her dear daughter Paije from Teaching Self-Government last month. During this interview, Nicholeen shared this statement of truth:

"Love isn't something that happens to us when someone likes us or pleases us. A person can love someone that doesn't please them. Love is an expression that comes from deeply valuing another person. Being liked or pleased is not a principle. However, Love is a principle, because it can exist no matter how someone behaves." Nicholeen Peck

Such a significant & powerful statement. And yet, we are so often caught up in our own emotional states, in response to our own old patterns we took on at whatever point in our development, attempting to fill some perceived & thus experienced "deficit", that we often never really see - thus not value, the other soul right in front of us. We are so caught up in our own old automatic thought & "dysregulated nervous system" programs, responding to whatever or whomever the stimulus or "trigger" happens to be, that the last thing we are thinking about is valuing anyone!

As I shared in this interview, the reality of the precious gift of learning to self-govern our own beings - to live the gifts we've been given, as we've been given to - literally equates to our being free of this emotional bondage. As we learn how to teach this to those within our own homes, as we've been uniquely given to as parents and part of a family, we equip them to do the same. It is a beautifully liberating & healing process - within our own heart and mind, & within our precious relationships. This opens the door to learning, to choosing, to being able - to truly love.

I am talking about real love, the kind that sees and regards another of such immense value, regardless of what they do or don't do, with no strings attached, expecting nothing in return. In fact, this kind of love does not come from & never truly is dependent upon anything "external". Yes, it is "bigger than us" - emanating and originating from a Source greater than ourselves. And, in that reality, we discover it is also the very essence of who, Whose and what we each individually are. We are all being given to learn and live this here and now. When we get a glimpse of this, becoming free enough within our own beings to be able to choose this...it is so powerful; our hearts, our homes, even our very world changes - one moment, one interaction, one choice at a time.

In this interview, Nicholeen invites each of us to take a moment to asses our relationships. I also share some thoughts, some questions to ask, as part of a "self-government in action" process. I have complied a tool you can access to support you in this at: https://thegiftofyou.wixsite.com/home/assessments

Until next time...Much love & gratitude to you & yours.
